When surrounded by nature’s beauty, one’s home should complement the environment. Windermere’s unique architectural plans do just that — they are designed "into the landscape." Inspired by the 19th-century Arts & Crafts movement, our comprehensive aesthetic is perfectly suited to the wooded backcountry of southern Connecticut. Living Beautifully - inside Prizing simplicity, quality craftsmanship, and good design, the Arts & Crafts movement harmonized architecture with nature. This visionary ideal replaced the constrained formality of the Victorian era with clean lines, graceful forms, and, above all, comfort. Arts & Crafts artisans celebrated the "artistry" of nature, while creating some of the most innovative concepts in architectural history. Windermere’s architecture is inspired by the work of English Arts & Crafts architect C. F. A. Voysey (1874-1941), whose groundbreaking style featured continuous rooftops that appear to blend in with the landscape and each other. Named for locales in England’s Lake District — Cumbria, Durham, Lancashire, and Westmorland — our plans for four to six bedroom, three-car-garage residences have been designed by Bartels-Pagliaro Architects. These light-filled homes incorporate architectural features such as porches, stone walls, cedar roofs, Marvin windows, Christopher Peacock Kitchens, Waterworks fixtures, hardwood floors, convertible au pair/in-law suites, masonary fireplaces, and sports-equipment rooms options include a landmark tower, light monitor, outdoor entertainment area, balconies, and his’/her’s studies and/or exercise rooms. |
